Published February 2016, VOLUME 137 / ISSUE Supplement 3

PurposeAnkyloglossia and shortened maxillary labial frenuli are a common malady that can have a negative impact on breastfeeding infants. These issues have been correlated to poor latch and potential aerophagia. The current GI and pediatric literature does not clearly delineate between aerophagia induced reflux, GER, and/or true GERD. The purpose of this study is to Differentiate between aerophagia induced reflux and gastroesphageal reflux disease. This will result in reduction in misdiagnosis of GERD and decrease the prescribing of reflux medication and minimize invasive testing.
